Pandit Vijay Koparkar

IMS is proud to present a concert of Hindustani Vocal by PT Vijay Koparkar.
He started his musical training at the age of eight under Madhusudan and Sudhatai Patwardhan for 8 years. This was followed by training under renowned artist of yesteryear, Vasantrao Deshpande for five years and then under Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki Ji for seven years. He has learnt from other vocalists, such as Balasaheb Poochwale.
He is an A-Graded Artist of All India Radio and TV and has performed extensively through out the world including all the major Music Festivals in India.
Vijay Ji is an engineer by education with BE and Masters in Metallurgy. Besides being a performer and teacher, he runs a small-scale manufacturing plant in Pune.
He is accompanied on Tabla by our own PT Shantilal Ji – disciple of Taal Yogi PT Suresh Talwalkar Ji and an accomplished accompanist and teacher who runs the IMS Tabla School in Houston
On the harmonium is our own young and upcoming harmonium player Tejas Rode – disciple of PT Vyas Murthy Katti Ji.
