Indian Music Society (“IMS”) and Tagore Society of Houston(“TSH”) proudly present our annual instrumental concert of Sarode and Tabla by Indrayuddh Majumdar and Umesh Banerjee, respectively, on June 10, 2023 at Houston Durga Bari Auditorium.
Indrayudh Majumdar
Indrayuddh Majumdar  has been learning Sarode since the age of 5 years from his father, the world-renowned Sarode Maestro Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar who is a disciple of Late Ustaad Ali Akbar Khan Saheb. He has also been receiving guidance from his mother Vidushi Dr. Manasi Majumder, who is a renowned Indian Classical vocalist. Initially, he received talim from his grandfather, the late Ranjan Majumdar and had the fortune of receiving talim on Laya and Taal from the world renowned Tabla Maestro, late PT Subhankar Banerjee.
He represents the Senia Maihar Gharana (School of Music), which was founded by one of the greatest saints of Indian Classical Music, Acharya Baba Ustad Allauddin Khan, and popularized by his worthy disciples: His son- Swara Samrat Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar, his Daughter Vidushi Annapurna Devi, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Ustad Bahadur Khan, Ustad Aashish Khan, and others.

Indrayuddh is the first Indian to receive the prestigious Salon Di Virtuosi Award in New York, which is awarded annually to the Best Classical Musicians across the globe. He was given this award after a special concert at the Consulate General of India in New York on 7th June, 2018.

An MBA in Marketing, Indrayudh is also the Co-Founder and CEO of an Indian tech-startup, ShowVelvet, which serves as an online interactive platform for Artists and Audience all over the world.
Unmesh Banerjee
One of the most promising tabla players of his generation, Unmesh Banerjee hails from a family stepped deep into North Indian Classical Music. He received intense taalim in the Farukkabad baaj from his Father and Guru, Pandit Sunil Banerjee. His mother Smt Bharati Nanavati Banerjee is a versatile vocalist of the Patiala Gharana. Unmesh was initiated into the world of Carnatic rhythm under the mridangam stalwart Vidwan S.Sekhar.
Unmesh has been an artist of AIR, recipient of the CCRT Scholarship and an ICCR empanelled artist. He has been performing since the age of 6 and has played solos and accompanied various veteran artists and young masters across different genres in India and abroad.
Unmesh is also a passionate teacher and loves to share his knowledge with those seeking a rhythmic upliftment. He teaches tabla, North Indian rhythm and South Indian rhythm techniques to beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
